A leather and wood mounted Mongolian relief dating to 1980–1990, titled Chameau de Bactriane, depicting a Bactrian camel and measuring 39.5 × 59.5 cm (44 × 64 cm with the wooden mounts) in good condition with minor age-related marks.
Description from the seller
Repoussé and painted leather image of Mongolian origin / Bactrian camel.
The iconography depicts the Bactrian camel. The Central Symbol is a variation of a traditional motif (similar to the Soyombo or mystical knots), used in Mongol art to symbolize prosperity, strength, or spirituality. The border with a geometric pattern along the edge is a "grecque" (called alkhan khee in Mongol), which represents eternal movement and continuity.
The leather part measures 39.5 x 59.5 cm, with the footprint including the wooden frames/backing of 44 x 64 cm.
The leather is in good condition, just a few small marks at the top (photos).
