Gallia, Christofle - Knife rest (12) - Silverplated

Rare and refined original 12-piece knife-rest set by Christofle, Gallia line, designed by the animalier sculptor Sandoz. The service is complete with all twelve elements, each depicting a different stylized animal, and is housed in its elegant original case signed “Gallia Paris” with a satin interior.

These knife-rests represent one of the most iconic models of Christofle's production in the 20th century. The modernist design, with fluid lines and dynamic forms, is typical of Sandoz’s work and makes the set particularly sought after by Christofle collectors as well as enthusiasts of French decorative arts.

The set consists of different animals (cats, canids, and other stylized figures), all made in high-quality silvered metal. The presence of the original case greatly increases the collectible appeal and rarity of the lot.

Excellent overall condition. Light superficial marks consistent with age and use. Silvering well preserved. Original case in good condition with normal signs of age.
