Statue - Dogon - Nduléri - Bois - Mali - 59 cm.

Very beautiful statue depicting a young woman in her daily activity of preparing the meal. Resting on a base, with her legs semi-bent, she holds in her hands a pestle in a mortar for millet.
The sculpture is shown with an elongated torso.
The hips are rounded and cone-shaped breasts are placed very high at shoulder level.
Her sophisticated coiffure is in three distinct parts and braided.
She wears a traditional necklace made of amulets.
The ironwood is heavy and dense. The patina is smooth and a fairly light brown.
Very good condition.
