Description from the seller
Ernesto is a young Cuban artist with professional training, born in the city of Manzanillo, in eastern Cuba, and currently residing and active in Havana. His work develops from a sensitive and contemporary perspective, with a clear projection within the current artistic landscape.
In the last year, his work has focused on a pictorial investigation around water, the sea, and the intimate relationship between human beings and the marine environment. His paintings evoke scenes of beaches, rivers, and aquatic spaces, where the human figures interact naturally with the surroundings, generating images filled with calm, movement, and contemplation.
Done in oil on canvas, his works stand out for a notable visual strength and a refined mastery of light, especially in the way it penetrates the water, reflects on the skin, and accompanies the liquid movement of the surrounding environment. The aquatic effects and transparencies are treated with sensitivity and precision, contributing depth and an enveloping atmosphere to each composition.
Ernesto has participated in various solo and group exhibitions in Havana and Manzanillo, and his work has also been shown outside the Cuban sphere. Currently, his pieces are part of private collections in Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States, consolidating an international projection that is continually growing.

This work, executed with the technical mastery of oil painting, stands out for its vibrant focus on contemporary realism and the study of movement. The painter uses a bold, impasto brushstroke to fragment the light on the water surface, creating a play of contrasts between cerulean tones and the warm glints that bathe the swimmer’s figure. Through a top-down perspective, the composition manages to capture the organic distortion produced by water, where the body seems to melt into the surroundings through dynamic and rhythmic strokes. The artist’s intent transcends mere physical representation; it seeks to convey a sense of liberation and introspective isolation, where the resistance of the water becomes a dance of textures that celebrates the harmony between the human being and the liquid element.
