Description from the seller
Splendid and imposing antique samovar, a masterful example of ornamental French silverware from the second half of the XIXth century. The object stands out for the exceptional quality of the hand-engraved incisions, with precise floral and geometric motifs that surround a central cartouche. It rests on four solid, massive lion-paw feet, extremely stable and finished to the smallest detail. The elegant faucet handle is clad in natural bone (intact), a noble material used at the time to insulate heat.
The samovar is complete with all its original components: central body, coordinated lid, and the original detachable burner at the base.
Main Characteristics:
- Dimensions: imposing height of 43.5 cm.
- Maximum width (with handles): 31 cm
- Body diameter: Ø 20 cm
- Weight: approximately 2.5 kg, testifying to the solidity of the materials.
Marks and Dating:
Under the base there is the numerical inscription "1869", which most likely indicates the year of manufacture, coherent with the style and construction technique. The number "16" below presumably indicates the serial number or the piece within the artisan workshop's production.
Condition Report:
The item is in excellent cosmetic condition considering its age. It features a splendid antique patina. There are slight signs of wear, small structural imperfections due to the artisanal craftsmanship of the period.
