Belutsch Antique Afghan Rug – Handwoven Art with Soul

Afghan Belutsch Rugs (also called Balutsch or Baluch Rugs) are hand-knotted rugs traditionally made by Belutsch nomads and semi-nomads in western Afghanistan, eastern Iran, and parts of Pakistan. These rugs are among the most characteristic and at the same time underestimated pieces of oriental knotting art.

Origin and Culture
The Belutsch belong to an ethnic group that mainly lives in the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Their rug art is closely linked to their nomadic life – the rugs serve not only as floor coverings but also as sleeping mats, saddle blankets, or tent coverings.
