Description from the seller
A delightful miniature from an Indian Quran dated 1548/9. the leaf contains verses 21–37 of Surah Al-Haqqah (Chapter 69 of the Quran) describing the final outcomes of the Day of Judgment, contrasting the rewards of the righteous with the severe punishment of the disbelievers. The passage emphasizes that on that day, the truth of accountability becomes undeniable. The Surah uses these descriptions to warn against denying the resurrection and to emphasize that true success is having a clear record of deeds, while the ultimate loss is being preoccupied with worldly power at the expense of faith and compassion.
Consisting of 12 lines of fine Nashki in black ink, the script is contained within a 8.5x4.5cm framed area. It is amazingly clear given its size. The scripture is pillowed between gold clouds which separate the lines of text and contains simple gold 'aya' marking the individual verses. The decorative marginal Juz in Gold in the right margin marks the 35th verse.
