Description from the seller

GENERAL
The 1981 Porsche 928 belongs to the first series of this innovative Grand Tourer, equipped with a 4.5-liter V8 engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection delivering approximately 240 HP. This specimen stands out for including the sunroof option, a feature highly valued at its launch. It is currently regarded as the model with the greatest investment potential within the brand, since it has not yet experienced the higher value growth of its siblings 911 or 914, allowing the owner to enjoy driving while the vehicle appreciates in value. Regarding the wheels, although some experts suggest they belong to a later model, it has not been confirmed whether they are original or an aesthetic update.

CARROCERÍA Y PINTURA
The bodywork presents a paint with good gloss that preserves the typical defects derived from normal use over the years. The mentioned sunroof works perfectly and stands out for its excellent sealing, as it shows no air leaks even when driving at high speeds on the road.

MECÁNICA
The powerful V8 engine offers optimal performance both cold and hot, showing a very smooth ride and a strong pull on the highway. As a notable mechanical adaptation, due to a prior fault in the starting switch, a start button was installed that allows keeping the original key operational. For its part, the gearbox functions correctly and does not grind in any of its gears. Regarding the underside, the underbody is in very good condition and free of rust, except for some totally superficial spots typical of time.

INTERIOR
The cabin remains in very good overall condition, including the headliner and the side panels. The seats have been reupholstered with a fabric of a texture very similar to factory, although it shows a slight tonal variation compared to the door panels.

DOCUMENTACIÓN
Historic registration with its Technical Sheet (as seen in the photos)

RECOGIDA
The vehicle is located in Madrid, Spain. Once awarded, the buyer will have a 20-day free storage period to arrange transport or pickup of the car.

OTRA INFORMACIÓN
This vehicle represents a unique opportunity to acquire a front-engine Porsche in solid preserved condition with a mechanical configuration that guarantees a classic and comfortable driving experience.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
