"Seïs" (garde cairote), a very beautiful portrait from the late 19th century (Egypt), attributed to JP Sebah.
A superb period albumen print in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing.
Excellent preservation of contrasts, gray-scale nuances and levels of detail.

Jean‑Paul Sebah (1872–1947) was a photographer active in Istanbul, heir to an important dynasty of photographers established in the Ottoman Empire. He is the son of the famous photographer Pascal Sébah, who founded in the 1850s one of the most renowned photographic studios in Constantinople.
