Porteur d'eau, a circa 1880 portrait photograph attributed to JP Sebah, 18 × 25 cm, albumen print in very good condition (TTB), unsigned, mounted on cardboard.

Circa 1880, 18x25 cm.
"Water Carrier", a very beautiful portrait from the end of the nineteenth century ( Egypt ), attributed to JP Sebah.
Very fine vintage albumen print from the period, in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing.
Excellent preservation of contrasts, grey nuances and levels of detail.
Jean‑Paul Sebah (1872–1947) was a photographer active in Istanbul, heir to an important dynasty of photographers established in the Ottoman Empire. He is the son of the famous photographer Pascal Sébah, who had founded in the 1850s one of the most renowned photographic studios in Constantinople.
Small PR conservatoire, not to be missed.
Will be shipped with its sleeve and the cardboard backing on a neutral pH (ideal for a collection kept in good condition).
