Peter Klashorst was a Dutch painter, sculptor, and photographer who, in addition to working in his homeland, lived and worked in various parts of the world, and in particular in Bangkok, Phnom Penh, and Mombasa.
In particular, in Phnom Penh he held in 2011 an exhibition of his paintings on the victims of the Khmer Rouge, which drew wide attention with articles in The New York Times and The Herald Tribune.
He painted, among other subjects, many female nudes, especially of Asian and African women, while male nudes are rare.
