Description from the seller
Author: Piotr Wrona
Title: Still Life
Technique: acrylic paints on linen canvas
Format: 90 × 90 cm
Support: high-quality linen canvas stretched on a solid painting frame with a profile of 3 × 5 cm
This expressive painting by Piotr Wrona presents a colorful, dynamic still life composed of diverse fruits and stylized, surreal elements in the form of flowers with human eyes. The composition is laid out on a table covered with a patterned fabric, whose geometric divisions harmonize with the cubist character of the entire scene.
On the left side, a large pineapple and bananas dominate, shown in a simplified, geometric form with clearly defined planes of light and shadow. In the lower part of the composition lie more fruits: halved kiwi, avocado with a visible pit, a bunch of grapes, and melon and pomegranate, whose interiors are depicted decoratively, with rhythmically arranged seeds.
The central and most intriguing motif is two stylized “flowers,” in which traditional centers are replaced by realistically painted eyes. This element introduces a symbolic and slightly surreal dimension to the painting, giving the still life a gaze and a slightly unsettling character. The fruits and plant forms interpenetrate with geometric solids, creating a multi-layered, dynamic structure.
The color palette of the painting is intense and contrasting—dominant warm yellows, oranges, and reds paired with cool blues, greens, and grays. The background does not serve a neutral role but consists of intersecting planes of color that build rhythm and depth of the composition.
In this painting, influences of fauvism and cubism are evident—color is treated freely and expressively, and forms are simplified and geometric. Everyday objects lose their realistic character, becoming elements of a decorative, nearly abstract structure.
Visible brushstrokes and layered application of acrylic paint give the surface of the painting a pronounced texture and energy. The composition feels vibrant and color-pulsing, and the combination of natural motifs with fantastical elements creates a modern, striking interpretation of still life.
The 90 × 90 cm format gives the painting a strong, contemporary presence in space. A solid painting frame and high-quality linen canvas emphasize the professional character of the work, enabling its display without an additional frame.
This painting is full of color, contrasts, and imagination—an composition that catches the eye and combines the classical subject of still life with a modern, symbolic language of form.
