Holiday Icon - Russia - First half of the 19th century
The border of the icon was restored later; originally it was silver leaf, as in the inner field.
The Easter event is in the middle: the Descent into Hell (Anastasis) and the Resurrection of Christ are depicted,
the 12 panels around the inner field show the church feasts throughout the year.
