Italian panel painting titled Paesaggio from the XIX century, oil on wood panel, 37 by 21 cm, by Scuola italiana (XIX), unsigned, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Hand-painted decorative panel on a board, depicting a evocative coastal landscape with rocks, trees and small animated figures, opening onto a bright horizon with boats. The composition, balanced and scenographic, recalls the idealized landscapes of the European 18th-century taste, with natural backdrops guiding the eye toward depth, creating an almost theatrical effect and great visual pleasure. The work belongs to the production of painted panels intended for furniture decoration, widespread in the Romantic era (early 1800s) when painted elements were applied to dressers, wardrobes or wooden structures to enrich their aesthetic value. The support is a wooden board (37 x 21 cm), painted in oil or with mixed technique; the back presents raw unprepared wood and traces of fittings, including marks of small nails, which confirm the origin as an applied element and not conceived as an autonomous painting. The work is signed at the lower right with a painter’s monogram. The conservation state is good for its age, with signs of time, light surface abrasions and a crack in the substrate consistent with the natural evolution of the wood; the patina is authentic and contributes to the charm of the object. Set in a beautiful contemporary frame, the painting gains greater presence and visual depth, fully enhancing it as a furnishing and collectible element. This is a artefact that blends decorative quality and historical testimony, expression of artisanal production midway between art and furniture, today appreciated as an autonomous element capable of enhancing both classical and contemporary interiors.
The colors may vary depending on the screen calibration.
The work is shipped without a frame.
The environments and frames visible in the images are digital reconstructions generated through artificial intelligence, used exclusively for display purposes, to suggest a possible placement of the work. The sale refers to the painting alone, without frame.
Careful packaging and insured shipping
