Description from the seller
View of Positano is an oil on panel measuring 40x50 cm that returns a luminous and vibrant vision of the famous Positano, captured from an elevated perspective that embraces the coast, the architecture, and the sea in a single visual harmony.
The composition unfolds along a dynamic diagonal that guides the gaze from the foreground vegetation to the heart of the village and, finally, to the airy openness of the sea. The houses, terrace-leaning along the slope, are rendered with a material and synthetic brushstroke, where light volumes and decisive shadows build a living and pulsating architectural fabric. The warm tones of the plaster alternate with hints of blue and green, while the floral blotches add vivid chromatic accents.
At the center of the scene rises a vertical tower that serves as the visual focal point, balancing the urban density with the breadth of the marine landscape. The beach below is animated by a multitude of small colored signs, evoking umbrellas and human presence, which give rhythm and vitality without ever weighing down the composition.
The sea, silent protagonist of the right half of the painting, is treated with broad fields and glazing, in which the variations of blue and turquoise suggest depth and movement. The gentle ripples on the surface guide the eye toward the horizon, where the mountains dissolve into cooler, more rarefied tones, creating an atmospheric effect of great breadth.
The sky, clear and delicately modulated, completes the work with a diffused luminosity that unifies the entire scene. The brushwork, free and gestural, gives the painting a contemporary character, while maintaining a strong link with the Italian landscape tradition.
Overall, the work stands out for its balance between formal synthesis and chromatic richness, offering an intense and poetic representation of the Mediterranean coast, suspended between reality and emotional interpretation.
