Description from the seller
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY!
This magnificent royal set is an exceptionally rare example of master craftsmanship, created especially to order for a Maharaja of India. It comes from the renowned Baccarat manufactory and dates back to 1908.
The PAU model was produced exclusively for the elite – it adorned the tables of the aristocracy and the most important figures of its time. Every element of the set reflects the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail for which Baccarat is famous.
The set comes from a private collection, which further underlines its uniqueness and collector’s value.
It was designed to resemble sparkling diamonds – the characteristic, precise cuts of the glass beautifully refract the light, creating an effect of extraordinary brilliance and elegance.
The set consists of a total of 44 glasses, divided into four types:
12 champagne glasses – height approx. 20 cm, width 10.8 cm, decorated with gold “diamonds”
11 red wine glasses – height approx. 16.8 cm, width 8.8 cm, decorated with blue “diamonds”
11 white wine glasses – height approx. 14.5 cm, width 7 cm, decorated with pink “diamonds”
10 sherry glasses – height approx. 13 cm, width 6.2 cm, decorated with pink “diamonds”
Each glass was handmade, so its dimensions may vary slightly (approx. 1–2 mm), which is a natural confirmation of its authentic artisanal production.
All the glasses are richly decorated – the rims and bases are finished with 24-carat gold, giving the whole set an exceptional and luxurious character.
Condition: antique, without damage, with minimal wear to the gilding.
This is an antique of museum value. This model is highly prized and is very often presented by Baccarat at international exhibitions of collectible glass.
This model is very rarely seen on the collectors’ market – usually only single pieces appear. It is extremely rare for a complete set in this form to be offered, as in this listing.
The glasses will be packed professionally and secured with the utmost care, then shipped in several separate parcels to ensure maximum transport safety. Each shipment will be insured according to the value of its contents.
If you win the auction, I kindly ask for payment to be made as soon as possible, no later than April 30th. If payment is not received by that date, I reserve the right to arrange shipment only after 10 May.
I wish you a successful bidding process!
