This flower is made entirely by hand in Murano using the traditional lampworking technique.
The glassmaker uses a colored glass cane, brought to the softening temperature by the flame of a gas-powered torch.
The glass, once malleable, is shaped and wrapped around a thin metal support, allowing the desired form to be achieved.
The lampworking technique allows for extremely detailed subjects to be created, such as flowers, animals and small decorative elements.
For flowers, once the bud and leaves are finished, the piece is hand-inserted onto a silk-covered stem and reinforced with wire, so it can be used for arrangements, decorations and displays.
