Description from the seller
Table "Fratino" in Solid Wood - Italian Renaissance Style
Splendid center or refectory table, commonly referred to as "Fratino," made of solid wood with a rich dark patina that enhances its historic character and timeless elegance. This piece stands out for its structural solidity and the refinement of the hand-carved details.
Main Features:
Top: Large rectangular with molded edges. Along the underside of the top runs a stunning carved frame in egg-and-dart (petal or berry) motif, typical of the late Renaissance style.
Base: Supported by two imposing vase/lyre-shaped legs, finely carved with acanthus leaves and lateral volutes.
Central Crossmember: The legs are connected by a sturdy horizontal crossbar, enriched at the center with a shell-carved medallion (scallop) and terminal scrolls, which guarantees extreme stability and aesthetic prestige.
Feet: The table rests on dramatic lion-paw (or beast) feet, a symbol of nobility and strength in period furniture.
Stability/Condition:
The piece is in overall excellent condition, with normal signs of aging that testify to its authenticity and add to its charm (small natural wood cracks or light superficial marks as seen in the photos). The structure is solid and ready to grace a prestigious living room, study, or dining room.
