Description from the seller
Display cabinet/Buffet in Carved Oak - Renaissance Style - Late 19th Century
Splendid and imposing display cabinet (buffet) made of solid oak wood (or walnut), richly hand-carved. The piece stands out for the exceptional quality of the carvings, which blend Renaissance repertoire elements with the opulent taste of the late nineteenth century.
Artistic Details:
Monumental Cresting: The top section is dominated by an important openwork crest with foliate scrolls framing a finely carved female face (maschera).
Central Body: Under the main top are two front drawers, also decorated with relief motifs and equipped with original handles in bronze/brass darkened with a flowing, undulating shape.
Supports and Shelves: The structure rests on elaborately worked front corbels of scrolls and acanthus leaves, which support two large open shelves, ideal for displaying ceramics or works of art.
Base: The piece terminates with a solid, moulded base that provides stability and grandeur.
Conditions:
The furniture is in excellent overall conservation condition. It shows the natural signs of time that attest to its age and originality (small patinas or slight superficial wear). The structure is solid, and the drawers operate smoothly.
