Worthy of note:
Ferdinand Marinus (20 August 1808 in Antwerp – 6 July 1890 in Namur) was a significant Belgian landscape painter, known especially for his romantic and atmospheric depictions. He loved playing with light and shadow, which is very evident in the golden shimmer on the roof of the house in this painting. He frequently exhibited abroad, and his works often featured motifs of rural life in Belgium (notably the Meuse region) and in the Netherlands. Marinus was a master at capturing the “mood.” The almost bare branches of the tree suggest late autumn or early spring. The focus is not only on the work itself but on the harmony of people, animals, and architecture in nature. Many of his works are today in the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Namur or in private collections across Europe. Additional detailed information about the artist can also be found for example on Wikipedia.
"Art is created only in the eyes and hearts of the respective viewers. For it is not the inspiration, the creative impulse, or the artist’s spontaneity that truly reaches them, but only what they want to see, feel, sense, or imagine when looking at it."
