Voodoo priest’s fetish collected in Belgium during an estate inventory, among a collection of ancient West African objects.
Wood and magical charge, with a probable patina of blood and of libations.
Intended to call the spirits and deities of the Vodou pantheon.
Note the foot turned backward which indicates a representation of an otherworldly spirit.
Convent altar fetish, this type of fetish was used by the fetish priest to invoke the spirits.
