An authentic antique Russian icon featuring the holy monks Zosima and Savvatij, founders of the Solovki Monastery, depicted facing forward with halo and monastic robes. The saint on the left holds a scroll, symbol of spiritual doctrine. At the top there is the Christ blessing among the clouds. The composition is enriched by a polychrome ornamental decoration with stylized floral motifs typical of late 19th-century popular Russian production.
Overall good condition.

There is a hole in the lower right area, visible but not structural, and an insect bore hole on the back.
Inscriptions:
Inscriptions in Cyrillic characters identifying the saints (“Св. Зосима и Савватий”), present on both the front and the back.
Era:
Russia, late 19th century (circa 1870–1900)
Medium:
Tempera on wooden panel with gilded background
Support:
Wooden panel with original rear crosspiece, typical of traditional Russian icons to prevent deformation.
Dimensions:
22 x 17.5 x 4 cm (without frame)
The item will be shipped already framed as shown in the photograph (the frame is not vintage).
