Ensign "The May Fair" Folding Camera – circa 1930 – British box camera – Novar Anastigmat lens

Description:
For sale: a characterful and stylish Ensign The May Fair, produced in England around 1930 by the Houghton-Butcher Manufacturing Company.

This model belongs to the elegant line of Ensign cameras from the interwar period and is named after the exclusive London district Mayfair. The camera combines compactness with classical engineering and is a fine example of early portable photography.

The camera is equipped with a Novar Anastigmat lens and a simple shutter with B/T settings and limited shutter speeds. In addition, the device features both a bright viewfinder and a folding sports finder.

Film type:
- This camera uses 127 roll film (E20 Ensign film)

Condition:
- The camera is used but complete.
- Bellows present, with visible signs of wear (not tested for light tightness)
- Shutter not tested for timing accuracy
- Lens not assessed for internal optical condition
- Cosmetics show normal wear appropriate for its age (including edge wear and minor signs of use)
- Original inner sticker ("E20 Ensign film") still present
