Vintage linen tester microscope by Gelog, Germany, circa 1950s–1960s.
A compact portable optical instrument designed for close material inspection, commonly used in textile evaluation, printing, and industrial quality control. The microscope features a sliding magnification selector with engraved markings for approximately 40x, 50x, and 60x magnification.
The body is constructed from lacquered metal with an early plastic (Bakelite-type) eyepiece, while functional elements such as the clip and fittings are made of metal, showing a natural patina consistent with age.
The piece is accompanied by its original leather pouch.
According to the previous owner, the microscope originated from a private collection belonging to a doctor, suggesting it may also have been used in a personal or professional observational context.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with visible signs of use. Minor wear to the lacquer and patina on metal components. The slider mechanism moves, and optics are present.
