-Vahe-André Hekimyan (1913–1997) was a painter of Armenian origin born in Turkey who developed much of his career in France. Connected to the artistic milieu of the Paris School, he was part of the generation of foreign artists who contributed to the cultural dynamism of the French capital in the 20th century.
His painting is characterized by a sensitive and expressive figurative style, with particular attention to color, light, and the structural composition. Across his career he produced landscapes, intimate scenes, and figurative compositions, evolving toward an increasingly synthetic language.
-The work starts from an abstract composition of a material character in which the artist develops a surface rich in texture through thick layers of paint. The work is organized around a central structure of fragmented rectangular shapes that recall a mosaic or assembly of plates. The palette, dominated by ochres, golds, and earthy tones, creates a contrast with the darker background and emphasizes the relief of the surface, imparting depth and a strong visual presence."
