Artist biography: painter Nguyen Robert 1958.

Born in 1958 in Bên Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion between Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he is fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that will become the basis of his visual language.

Based in his homeland region for most of his life, Nguyen Robert has developed, over the decades, a deeply contemporary, modern, and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility inherent to Vietnamese culture.

His double heritage, Franco-Vietnamese, enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual impact.

Known for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today regarded as one of the singular voices of contemporary delta Mekong painting. He continues his work in his workshop in Bên Tre, surrounded by the landscapes that have shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries in Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art enthusiasts seeking profoundly modern, structured, and vibrant works.
