Chi - wara - Bambara - Bois - Mali - 89 cm.

Elegant and antique Bambara tywara female from the Segou region in Mali.
It features a Hippotragus antelope carrying its calf on its back.
This type of crest was worn during rites linked to Bambara agricultural festivals.
This one still has its wicker basket covered with fabric to secure it on the head.
Here we find a refined stylization with a long neck and long horns.
The wood is hard, the patina is light.
Very good overall condition despite its age.
Personal collection.

Élégant et ancien tywara femelle Bambara provenant de la région de Segou au Mali.
Il figure une antilope hyppotrague qui porte son petit sur son dos.
Ce genre de cimier était porté au cours des rites liés aux fêtes agraires Bambara.
Celui ci possède encore son panier en osier recouvert de tissus permettant de le fixer sur la tête.
On retrouve ici une stylisation raffinée avec un long cou, de longues cornes .
Le bois est dur, la patine est claire.
Très bon état général malgré l'ancienneté.
