Pharmacy jar/ Albarello - Majolica, Earthenware

Italian Albarello medicinal pot from the 18th century, executed in blue-and-white majolica. With a rural scene on the front.
Albarello pots, with their characteristic hourglass shape and decoration, originated in Persia.
This form was developed so that many pots could stand next to each other on a shelf, yet still be easily picked up, by grabbing them from the middle.

Size: 11.5 cm diameter.
16 cm high.

Condition: Reasonably good condition, with chips at the base and a small hairline at the upper rim
