Description from the seller
Broer Dobbelsteen was a versatile Brabantian artist who made his name primarily with his colorful and expressive paintings. Although he was originally trained as a designer at the academy in Eindhoven, he reversed course in 1964 to devote himself entirely to free art. His work, which often revolves around human figures and abstract forms, stands out for its lively use of color and a very own, recognizable handwriting. Until his death in 2019 he remained a notable figure in the Geldrop region, where he worked for many years on an oeuvre that still frequently appears with collectors and at art auctions.
The oil paintings by Broer Dobbelsteen are known for their powerful, expressive appearance, strongly influenced by the CoBrA movement. He employed a recognizable technique in which he often worked with thick layers of paint (impasto) and a coarse, spontaneous brushwork.
Dimensions of the work: 120 x 151 cm
Dimensions of the work with frame: 124 x 154 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house picture-framing shop, celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the industry organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
