Lalique Bagatelle vase by René Lalique, a late Art Déco crystal glass piece from France, 17 cm high and 12 cm in diameter, in excellent condition with a barely visible micro-eclat on the base.
Description from the seller
Vase “Bagatelle” – René Lalique, 1939
Reference Marcilhac: 10-936
Created in 1939 by René Lalique, the “Bagatelle” vase is one of the most refined models of his late Art Deco period. It is molded in satin and transparent glass (often bluish, sepia, or turquoise patina depending on the piece) and adorned with a raised motif combining birds in flight and architected foliage, in a natural yet ordered rhythm.
The motif is embossed on the entire cylindrical body of the vase, alternating satin surfaces and clear zones to enhance contrast and visual depth. The birds, stylized yet expressive, seem animated in an organic composition that evokes a suspended moment in nature.
The piece is signed “Lalique France” etched under the base, in keeping with the pieces produced before 1945. It appears in Félix Marcilhac’s Catalogue Raisonné (Éditions de l’Amateur, Paris) under reference 10-936, illustrated on the corresponding page.
Condition and authenticity
This exhibited example is in excellent overall condition, with a tiny micro-scratch on the edge of the base that is barely perceptible. The glass shows a few scratches under the base from contact with surfaces; they are discreet and do not affect the object's aesthetics or value.
Dimensions
Height: 17 cm
Diameter: 12 cm
An emblematic vase
The Bagatelle vase fully embodies the late Art Deco spirit of Lalique: sobriety, stylized naturalism, the quality of glass engraving, and finesse in the satin/transparent transitions. The pattern of foliage and birds evokes a miniature landscape suspended within the crystal.
Suitable for center-table display, on a sideboard, or in a display cabinet, this vase charms with its calm yet assertive presence. Collectors and Art Deco enthusiasts will recognize in it a piece that is both refined and emblematic of René Lalique’s oeuvre.
The images are part of the description. Shipping with insurance and to a pickup point if possible. Shipments are expensive, and you contribute to a portion of these costs.
