Zeiss Ikon stereo slide viewer for half‑frame 50×50 mm images, model 1427/01; physical condition reasonable and functional condition tested and working, circa 1950–1960, powered by two D batteries, can be detached from the illumination unit to be used as a transmissive viewer, with internals and Bakelite housing in good order.
Description from the seller
Zeiss Ikon stereo slide viewer for half-frame in a 50x50 mm viewing window. The images, left and right, are mounted side by side as half-frame slides in a standard window. This type of slide often resulted from specialized stereo macro lenses for standard single-lens reflex cameras. They were regularly seen in medical photography and other branches of professional (scientific) applications.
The viewer’s illumination runs on two large D batteries. The viewer cannot be focused or adjusted for eye-base. The viewer can be detached from the illumination unit via two side buttons and can then be used as a through-viewer. The internal mirrors, lenses and matte glass are still in good condition. The housing is made of Bakelite. There is some damage and a small crack on the rear of the illumination unit. But the housing feels solid. Nevertheless, a particularly high-quality and, above all, distinctive viewer.
