This lot features a set of 10 pieces of glass suction cups made most probably in the late 19th century or early 20th century in Eastern Europe region. The set was created by adding selenium and iron in the glass material, often resulting in greenish or yellowish gray appearance typical of classical glassblowing techniques. Another traditional feature is that each piece is different in size and shape, while presenting air bubbles and small irregularities. Some of the pieces seem to have pontil scars on their upper part. Their edge circumference is consolidated through material folding at high temperatures forming a shock resistant glass ring. After the classical glass handblowing procedures, modern sets of medicinal vacuum cups started being mass produced through mold glass techniques.
