Description from the seller

Rare near pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain plates, Kangxi period (1662–1722).

Both plates are finely potted with a lobed, floral-shaped rim and decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with elegant scenes of ladies in a garden, surrounded by flowering plants and rockwork within paneled reserves. The central medallions depict refined female figures in a tranquil outdoor setting. The painting is lively and confident, typical for early Qing wares with transitional influence.

A very attractive detail is the difference in marks. One plate bears an artemisia leaf mark within double circles, the other a rare jade (precious object) mark. This variation is often seen in Kangxi production and is appreciated by collectors.

Condition: one plate in very good condition. The second plate has a small flake to the rim on the reverse and a minor chip to the footring. No restoration observed. Overall a well-preserved and decorative near pair.
Dimensions: approx. 17.3 cm diameter and 4 cm height.
