Description from the seller
Episcopal ciborium in vermeil silver richly adorned with amethyst cabochons set in bezel mounts, arranged on the lid, the knop and the foot. The interior bowl is fully gilded according to liturgical usage. The domed lid is surmounted by a trilobed Latin cross.
The knop and the foot repeat a rhythmic decoration of amethysts in polylobed engraved frames, evoking the episcopal symbolism of liturgical purple.
Under the base there is an engraved inscription reading “Monseigneur de Grammont,” indicating episcopal destination.
Marks:
– Master goldsmith Edmond Lesage, Paris (lozenge EL)
– Minerve first title (950‰)

Very good overall condition, slight wear to the vermeil. Amethysts intact.
