Description from the seller
Exceptional Soumak Kuba – Azerbaijan (1920–1930)
We present a magnificent Soumak Kuba from Azerbaijan, an authentic Caucasian piece crafted 100% by hand.
Woven in high-quality wool with fine silk details on a cotton base, this art stands out for its extremely fine and taut structure, characteristic of the best works from the Kuba region. The Soumak (soumakh) technique is clearly evident on the reverse, with the floating threads typical of this traditional Caucasian weave.
The design features a geometrical composition with high precision, accompanied by traditional motifs and a detailed execution that demonstrates the weaver's mastery. The colors retain depth and harmony, adding character and elegance to the piece.
It is in very good condition considering its age (approx. 1920–1930). The structure is firm, the sides well preserved and the fabric maintains its original tension.
A refined and collectible piece, ideal for lovers of antique Caucasian textiles and for interiors with character.
