Soumak - Kuba - Carpet - 105 cm - 73 cm

We present an authentic Caucasian Soumak handwoven rug, from the Kuba region (Azerbaijan), dating roughly between 1920 and 1930.

The piece is made using the traditional Soumak hook-weaving technique, characterized by visible floating warp threads on the back and the slight relief of the pattern on the surface.

The design features stylized geometric tribal motifs arranged in a field balanced with multiple borders, typical of Caucasian eastern Soumaks.

Materials: wool and silk on a cotton foundation.
Condition: very good for its age, well preserved.
