Introduction Olympus 850 SW
The Stylus 850 SW, just like the 1030 SW with which it was announced simultaneously, features a waterproof, shock-resistant, dustproof, and frost-resistant housing, although it does not offer the same protection against bumps as its more expensive sister.

Olympus 850 SW features
The Stylus 850SW is equipped with an 8-megapixel CCD image sensor and Olympus’s internal 3x optical zoom lens, as well as a 2.5-inch LCD screen with 230,000 pixels. Other features include face detection for automatic exposure/AF, digital image stabilization, in-camera panorama stitching, Olympus’ shadow correction technology (which helps compensate for extreme contrasts) and Perfect Fix editing in the camera, enabling red-eye correction and shadow correction, as well as the ability to adjust size, frames, text options, and saturation.

In addition to 14.8 MB built-in memory, the 850 SW has an xD-Picture Card slot and is compatible with an optional underwater housing suitable for depths up to 40 meters. The Stylus 850 is powered by its own rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

Shock-resistant design
The Stylus 850 SW’s shock-absorbing technology minimizes impact on the lens and electronics when the camera is dropped from a height of up to 1.5 meters. Whether the camera slips from a backpack or a toddler drops it down the stairs, the Stylus 850 SW can take a knock.

Waterproof for underwater fun
The Stylus 850 SW performs underwater as well as on land, thanks to the lightweight aluminum housing combined with rubber gaskets and O-rings inside that keep the elements out. It can take photos to a depth of about 3 meters. The four pre-set underwater scene modes make the Stylus 850 SW perfect for snorkeling or a day at the pool. The lens also features a hydrophobic coating to prevent water droplets from forming on the lens, so you get crystal-clear photos no matter how wet the surroundings are.

Frost-resistant for icy conditions
Unlike other compact cameras that freeze in cold weather, the Stylus 850 SW operates when the temperature drops well below freezing (14 degrees Fahrenheit; -10 degrees Celsius), so it’s ready for use on the slopes when you are.

Dustproof for carefree fun
The rugged Stylus 850 SW is an ideal companion for a weekend outdoors, because it resists dust, dirt, and other particles. Shoot without worry in the wind, and if the camera gets dirty, just rinse it off and keep shooting.
