Condition: fine / excellent - very neat original bindings with very solid edges; very neat, sturdy and compact blocks (as new!) ; strikingly neat and very clean pages (only the usual light discoloration, otherwise as new and so neat: never opened!) Complete.
Very rare edition of the famous so-called Moerentorf edition! And also very rare: the complete set with both parts!
This edition was issued only in these sober leather bindings.
Very handsome copies of this scarce and sought-after Bible edition.
The book with the Old Testament is very thick!
Interesting provenance: From the Begijnenhof collection with library stamps from the St. Aloisius College in ’s-Gravenhage and the Bible Society in ’s-Gravenhage (1937).
Must-have for collectors of special and rare antique Bibles.

Jan Moretus (Johann Moerentorf) (1543–1610) was a Flemish printer. He married in 1570 with Martina Plantijn, the second daughter of the famous Antwerp publisher Christoffel Plantijn. He worked for Plantijn from 1557 and would become the owner of the printing house after his death. After his death his wife took over the business, although she entrusted the management to her sons Balthazar I and Jan II Moretus.
