Description from the seller
Up for auction is an exclusive set of two historical bottles of Bénédictine D.O.M., the legendary French herbal liqueur from Fécamp, showcasing the evolution of this spirit over nearly half a century.
[b. 1940s to early 1950s - "Véritable Bénédictine] (Imported by Aldo Zini - Genoa):
A high-end collector's piece. Featuring the iconic parchment-style label and a higher alcohol content of 43% ABV (compared to the modern 40%). This bottle was imported to Italy by "Ditta Aldo Zini," the prestigious distributor active before the brand transitioned to Martini & Rossi.
Condition: Sealed with original lead foil and wire binding. The red wax seal is well-preserved. Excellent fill level considering its age.
2001 Artistic Edition (Collection Bénédictine n°8 - Torelli):
A 70cl bottle (40% ABV) presented in its sought-after lithographed collector’s tin. This edition belongs to a limited series dedicated to contemporary art.
Artist: Abbondio Torelli.
Condition: Perfectly sealed with the original Italian tax stamp of the period.
Trivia & History:
Bénédictine is one of the world's oldest liqueurs, crafted from a secret blend of 27 herbs and spices. The acronym D.O.M. (Deo Optimo Maximo) pays homage to the Benedictine monks. While the modern version is a staple in cocktail bars, the 43% vintage bottling is highly prized by connoisseurs for its superior aromatic intensity and honeyed complexity.
