Plate - Metal - NS train destination board

A distinctive and authentic Dutch Railways train destination sign, as these were formerly hung on carriages so passengers could immediately see where the train was headed.

This sign shows on one side the destinations Deventer – Eindhoven, and on the other side Den Haag CS – Enschede. Such signs were used on through routes and could be easily flipped depending on the direction of travel or service.

Metal construction with the characteristic NS colors: deep blue with bright lettering. This type of sign was used mainly from the 1970s to the 1980s, before electronic displays came into use. The designation “K.T. 54053 Wpl On. 1988” points to a production date or revision around 1988, which fits well within this period of use.

Equipped with original mounting lugs, through which the sign could actually be attached to the train. This makes it not only a decorative object but also a tangible piece of railway history.

The sign shows clear signs of use such as scratches, wear, and slight discoloration. This is entirely in line with intensive use in rail traffic and contributes to the authenticity and charm.

A rare collectible for railway enthusiasts, lovers of industrial design, or vintage signage. Also very suitable as a striking decor piece.
