Description from the seller
Silvered metal table figurine or statuette by the famous French goldsmith Christofle, historic supplier to imperial and royal courts, and still present in the world’s top luxury hotels.
Model “Moineau” (Sparrow), from the “Lumière d’Argent” collection, made between 1987 and 1994 at the Saint-Denis manufacture.
The Lumière d’Argent collection comprises nearly 36 pieces created by Christofle during this period. The various animals, in silvered metal, are enhanced with onyx eyes. These pieces were produced in the house’s workshops using a very particular technique: a portion is obtained by casting, while other elements, first worked and detailed on sheet like a pattern, are then formed and assembled to create the animal. This method explains the richness of the poses as well as the great finesse of the details. The slightly incised surfaces recall Christofle’s early jewelry, which used a metal fabric technique close to filigree, for which the patent was filed in 1837.
Contemporary naturalistic decor depicting a sparrow in a pecking position, with a fine chiseling of the feathers. The openwork body elegantly reproduces the plumage motif. The eyes are onyx, a natural stone.
In excellent general condition, near mint, with no wear to the silvering.
You are buying exactly the object shown in the photos.
