Description from the seller
Statue of the Miracle Virgin - Glazed ceramic fired - Mid 20th century
Elegant devotional sculpture depicting the Miracle Virgin (Immaculate Conception), crafted in artistic ceramic in the mid-1900s. The piece stands out for a refined glossy reactive glaze in shades of cerulean blue and deep blue, with charming moss green and brown nuances emerging from the folds of the drapery, making the piece chromatically unique.
The face and hands are deliberately left with a matte finish (bisque), creating a delicate textural contrast that adds sweetness and expressiveness to the figure. The Virgin is represented in her classic iconography, with arms extended in a gesture of welcome and intercession, set on a base that simulates a rocky formation.
The object is in generally good condition, but shows signs of an old conservation restoration at the base. The junction between the cloak and the pedestal has been reinforced and subsequently refined with a dark matte protective varnish to camouflage the intervention. There are small chips to the painted layer on the base and slight signs of aging on the veil (as in the photos), which give the item an authentic historical character. The structure is solid and stable.
Please carefully view the photo gallery, which is an integral part of the description, in order to avoid misunderstandings.
Careful packing and tracked shipping.
