The Ferrari F40 is a sports car produced by the Italian car manufacturer Ferrari, heir to the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, produced between 1987 and 1992 (for the last units the “F40 GTE”), the heir of which was the F50.

The body design was created by the Pininfarina studio by Aldo Brovarone, Leonardo Fioravanti and Pietro Camardella under the guidance of Nicola Materazzi, who was entrusted with the project, making the engine, transmission and other mechanical parts of the car. Materazzi also had previously designed the bodywork of the 288 GTO Evoluzione, from which the F40 borrows many stylistic features.
