Antique Italian grocer's set consisting of 6 pieces in turned beech wood: two bowls of different sizes and four sessole (dosing paddles) with turned handles decorated with annular circles. Early 20th century (circa 1900-1940).\n\nCOMPOSITION OF THE LOT\n• Large turned bowl with a raised foot base\n• Medium turned bowl with numerical code engraved at the base (typical workshop/catalog brand)\n• Four sessole in beech with turned handle and incised circular decoration, of different capacities for dosing sugar, salt, flour, spices, coffee\n\nORIGINAL USE\nComplete set from an ancient Italian grocer's shop or food store, used for weighing and dosing loose foodstuffs: flour, sugar, salt, rice, coffee, legumes and spices. The sessole were kept together with the weighing bowls on the shop counter or in the drawers of flour and cereal containers.\n\nMATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP\nNatural beech wood, fully turned and hand-worked.
