César Fernández Ardavín (1883-1974) - Nu assis

Elegant and sensual nude of a seated lady, seen from behind, done in oil on canvas. César Fernández Ardavín (Madrid, 1883-1974) studied at the School of Arts and Crafts, where his teachers included the painters Luis Menéndez Pidal and Cecilio Plá. From a young age, he began collaborating with his father in the family lithographic studio, painting posters for films, circuses, bullfights, and variety shows. In his early painting career, his preferred subjects were scenes and characters from contemporary Spain, and his paintings were characterized by dark tones, which later evolved into landscapes. It is worth noting that as a painter he signed his work with his own name, while as a poster artist he always signed as Vinfer, considering it a lesser art form. Although it is sold with a frame, this should be considered a gift and no claims will be accepted regarding its condition or after its transport.
