Description from the seller
Akai AP-100C – Vintage semi-automatic turntable (late 1970s)
Elegant vintage Akai turntable model AP-100C, produced in the late 1970s, an example of Japanese build quality and hi-fi design of the era. This model represents an ideal solution for vinyl enthusiasts seeking a warm, reliable sound combined with ease of use.
The belt-drive mechanism ensures smooth and quiet rotation, while the 4-pole synchronous motor provides stability and tracking precision. Operation is semi-automatic with automatic tonearm return at the end of the record, making it simple and safe to use even for less experienced users.
The turntable is equipped with a statically balanced S-shaped tonearm with anti-skating adjustment, compatible with numerous cartridges, and a robust 300 mm aluminum die-cast platter, contributing to good inertia and rotational stability.
Sonically, it offers solid performance with wow & flutter around 0.05% WRMS and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 53 dB, typical of mid-to-upper range hi-fi turntables of the era.
Main features:
Drive: belt
Speeds: 33 and 45 rpm
Motor: 4-pole synchronous
Operation: semi-automatic with auto-return
Platter: die-cast aluminum (300 mm)
Tonearm: statically balanced S-shaped
Effective tonearm length: 220 mm
Wow & flutter: 0.05% WRMS
S/N ratio: >53 dB
This model is notable also for the possibility (typical of Akai’s range of that era) to be used in advanced stereo configurations, making it interesting for collectors and hobbyists of vintage systems.
