Bose 901 Series III Direct Reflecting System.
A beautiful fully restored Bose 901 Series III set with the original revised and customized equalizer.
This is already the sixth set I have restored in recent times.
Externally all major damage has been repaired. In some pictures you can see small pieces of new veneer have been inserted.
The enclosure has been re-oiled after cleaning.
All 18 speakers have new foam-rubber edges installed, identical to the original type. So those with the double-rim surround.
Also the speaker terminals have been fixed in the enclosure with industrial epoxy. The terminals are factory-pressed into the cabinets and are usually loose, which can cause possible extraneous noise.
The accompanying equalizer has also been thoroughly refurbished.
All ageing electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with equivalent types.
The corroded iron RCA connectors at the back have been replaced with gold-plated ones.
The equalizer from the factory has no on/off switch. This means that you must always unplug it if you do not have an amplifier with a switched mains output.
I therefore equip all my restored equalizers with a small illuminated push-on/push-off switch that replaces the neon lamp, so you can turn it on and off yourself.
The fronts were attached to Bose with staples. I have fitted the fronts with Velcro so that, if necessary, they can be easily removed.
Included is a printed black-and-white copy of the English manual found on Bose's site. It explains how to optimally place the set and how to connect it.
For shipping the set is packed in new boxes. I have attached a number of photos to show that extra care is taken.
