Description from the seller

The Taşpınar carpets are among the most beautiful examples of traditional Turkish weaving and stand out for their rich history. Taşpınar carpet patterns, produced in the Aksaray region, are famous for their vivid red and navy blue colors, geometric medallion motifs, and floral designs. In particular this rug features a motif known as mihrab: one of the most iconic and symbolic depictions, closely tied to the practice of prayer. It indeed represents the architectural niche, typical of mosques, that indicates the qibla, i.e., the direction toward Mecca.
