Vintage Velvet- chenille Cov erlet for King Bed with Relief - Putti and Garlands Motif - Sicily, 1940s/1950s

Splendid specimen of an aged king-size bedspread, coming from a prestigious Sicilian dowry from the mid-20th century (ca. 1940-1950). This piece represents the excellence of Southern textile craftsmanship of the era, featuring a chenille worked in a 'punto riccio' (curl stitch) with a three-dimensional effect of strong visual impact.

The design is clearly inspired by neo-baroque motifs:

Center: At the heart of the composition we find a scene depicting finely executed putti (cherubs), a symbol of love and prosperity.

Frame: The central scene is surrounded by lush garlands of roses and raised floral motifs.

Colors: The color palette is remarkably preserved, with vibrant tones of coral red, orange, pink, and sage green on a cream background, capable of imparting warmth and light to any classy bedroom.

Conditions and Seller Notes

The bedspread is in overall excellent condition regarding the central body and color vibrancy; the chenille is intact and soft.
A important note about the tassels: The outer fringe (trim) appears deteriorated in several spots due to time (see photos). For a perfect restoration and everyday use at a high level, replacement of the outer fringe is recommended—a simple intervention that would restore the piece to its original splendor.
