Description from the seller
Set of three cross pendants made of brass and bronze-gold, 19th century
An ensemble of three gilded brass crosses, finely crafted, with different Christian iconographies.
Grand cross with Evangelist medallions: Christ on the cross surrounded by the symbols of the Tetragrammaton (the Eagle, the Lion, the Ox and the Angel), decorated with grapes symbolizing the blood of Christ.
Crosses with circular medallions: Decoration of the Instruments of the Passion (Arma Christi); depiction of the crucified Christ under the inscription INRI, symbolic medallions at the ends.
Small Gothic cross: A cross in the neo-Gothic style with trilobed ends, probably originating from an old wall prayer book or a processional staff (threaded mount on the back).
Good overall condition with a light patina of age.
Religious devotional piece of the 19th century, probably French or Italian.
Set of two religious crosses, late 19th – early 20th century
1. Russian Orthodox cross made of gilded bronze
A typical Russian tripartite cross with the crucified Christ and inscriptions in Church Slavonic ("IC XC", "НИКА"). The reverse side is completely engraved with prayers in Cyrillic script. Beautiful old patina, signs of liturgical use.
Height: approx. 10.8 cm - Width: 5.5 cm.
2. Silvered Catholic crucifix with cherub decor
Latin cross in relief, ornamented with heads of angels at the ends and a finely formed Christ on a radiant background.
French workmanship from the late 19th century, for use as a rosary or in a monastery.
Height: 9 cm - Width: 5 cm.
